How to stop having a bad day

Does this sound familiar? From the moment you wake up in the morning things start to go wrong. You lose your keys, you burn your breakfast, the cat vomits all over the rug, your children are screaming, you just heard a report that there is traffic on-route to work... and the list goes on and on.

When you start the day off on the wrong foot it can be really easy to carry this energy with you through the rest of the day. It then effects your sleep which then effects the next day, and so on the bad energy flows until you don’t even remember what it felt like to not have a bad day! I’ve been in this place one too many times, for sure. I know you have too, so... The good news is that there is a way to stop a bad

moment from turning into a bad day. Here’s how to start over:

1.) Breathe In to How You Feel

Sometimes no matter how hard you try, things are going to come your way which put you in a bad mood, right? When this happens, allow yourself to feel. Feel that bad mood. Allow yourself to really get present with your emotions and sit with them as you breathe deeply.

This can feel a little overwhelming or confronting at first, but after just a few moments the emotions start to subside and a feeling of release follows.

By allowing yourself to lean into the feeling, it helps it to pass very quickly and it stops it from flowing into other parts of your day.

2.) Protect Your Energy

Do other people’s moods rub off on you? This happens with me, all the time. Taking on other people’s energy is one of the quickest ways to lower your vibration and this can drag you into a bad mood literally instantly.

In order to prevent this, you need to develop some tools of protection. One of the easiest ways to do this is to imagine a white light surrounding your body.

Close your eyes, visualize a white light, and recite a mantra such as- “This white light protects me and shields me, only light and love may enter.” Might sound a little “woo” but being in that moment and visualising only positivity within your space truly helps you separate yourself from the shit.

3.) Do a Quick Cleanse

Whenever you feel a bit icky, a quick cleanse can be just what you need.

To do this, stand straight and tall and begin using your hand to make a swishing motion around your entire body. Imagine your hand is a broom and is sweeping away any bad vibes. Once you have made your way around your entire body clap three times to send off the energy. Bye Felicia!

This is technique is great to use when you don’t have immediate access to smudging tools like sage or palo santo.

4.) Do Something to Shift Your Energy

When you are having a bad day it is so easy to get stuck in that wicked vibration. In order to move out of it, you have to do something to shift your energy.

Going for a walk in nature, taking deep breaths, working out or even watching a funny video are great ways to do this (cat videos on YouTube...you’re welcome).

You can also recite a powerful mantra to help shift your energy such as- “My day is flowing smoothly, I feel at peace and at ease. Everything is as it should be.”

5.) Find the Gratitude

When seemingly bad things happen it opens a door to a new opportunity, an opportunity to learn, an opportunity to grow, and an opportunity to better yourself.

If you want to create lasting positivity and happiness in your life, you need to learn how to roll with the punches and accept it as a part of life.

Instead of getting caught up in a funk when bad things happen, instead choose to focus on gratitude. Choose to focus on the silver lining and try to find the positive.

Taking a moment to focus on all that you feel grateful for is a great way to instantly boost your vibration and helps put an end to any lingering negativity.

5.) Do something you Love

When you’ve had a rough day, make it a point to really look after yourself and to do something you love. This could be reading a good book, having a bath, or spending time with your cat.

Be a comfort to yourself and give yourself a big hug. Place your hand over your heart and let yourself know that it is going to be ok. Rose Quartz is fantastic for this piece as well.

Bad days happen, but the kinder and gentler you can be to yourself, the better and the easier they become to manage.

6.) Prevention is Better than a Cure

If a bad day is something of a common occurrence in your life, it may be time to do a little inventory and think about what changes you need to make in order to prevent whatever is distributing your flow.

Keep it simple and perhaps start this process by thinking about where your trouble spots are and what you can do to bring some relief.

Think about if you’re getting enough exercise in, or what types of foods you’re consuming, and if they’re triggering negativity within you. An example of this is excess sugar, it can spur on a migraine which I KNOW leads to bad moods.

And finally, remember that tomorrow is another day and brings a fresh opportunity to start again!
